10 Gazillion Megabytes… One Scratch.

Gold Status

May 13, 2009

That’s right ya’ll, 10,000, Blog gold status. We officially now have more hits than Tina Turner in the 80’s.

Other notable 10,000s…

  • The number of species of birds identified by modern zoologists.
  • Half the number of leagues under the sea Nemo had to go.
  • The number of web-sites the government recently blocked with their mandatory web filter.
  • The title of a crappy prehistoric action/drama involving mammoths, large flightless birds (no Emu) and some poor acting.
  • How many times Lil Wayne has appeared in film-clips without a shirt.
  • A gang of hoplite mercenaries that fought for the ancient Greeks against the Persians.
  • A slow-ass day for a major blog.

We don’t really have a specific theme, or even a reason for existence besides a self indulgent need to broadcast opinions, music and ill conceived rants out into the internets. So the fact that you all take the time to swim by for a visit makes us all aroused really glad. For those that even go so far as to comment, well we appreciate that even more.

Be sure to keep on checking back, we’ve got some grand plans for this spot, including more localised content, videos, gig reports and photos, collaborations and even some celebrity friends. Seriously, tell your friends. We are taking over.

At the risk of becoming something akin to the internets version of the tabloid news, i can’t help but love the latest tales of UFO sightings.

An auto-tuned life.

My current undergrad research project is about auto-tune… I doubt it will be this funny.

Can’t Stop… Won’t Stop…

February 11, 2009

This post represents our 100th at North of the River.

Props to all our readers and anyone dropping comments, tell your friends about us, after all there’s only so much p0rn you can surf, or cheap shit you can buy before you need something different from the internet.

We’ve got some serious moves in progress at the moment, we’re modestly aiming for total blog domination of our town, excepting that is the middle aged food/knitting/childcare genre that runs things currently. Stay tuned fam, there’s good things afoot.

To celebrate, here’s a few other important 100’s:

This broad smoked her 170,000th cigarette on her 100th birthday. She claims its never made her ill because she never inhaled… true story.

Big Dee-Dee the 100 year old, 10kg Canadian lobster.

100 is the number of sex-dolls this dude lives with…

While not strictly ‘important’ its kinda funny that this website exists…

top 100 things to do in Sydney

Here i thought it was pretty much limited to, see a bridge, punch a racist bogan, join in Mardi Gras, leave… thats 4.

“One quality show after another, each one fresher and more brilliant than the last…”

February 2, 2009

I’ve been meaning to do this post for a while, since early last year in fact, and now its almost a little redundant. Still, one does what one can.

This is a post about Television, and not the cult 70’s rock band so favoured by my housemates, but the much maligned ‘idiot box’.

In general, its about how the lack of quality film projects has seen an incredible surge in funding, production values and tight writing in a number of programs especially for television. I may as well just say it, HBO stand the fuck up!

I work in a video store, so you can imagine that i waste hours of my life watch a lot of dvds, and i can honestly say that i’ve watched more TV in the last year than anything, and i don’t mean Australian free-to-air. So here’s a brief guide to some quality programming you need in your life. (more…)

This is strictly for the beat-heads, Exile flips A Milli and some Hiero samples into some futuristic bounce.
