Happy 100th Birthday Errol Flynn

A dapper chap from the darklands of Tasmania who tore Hollywood apart with such classics as Captain Blood, and The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Best remembered for his yacht, hard living, drinking and womanising, he was taken to court after allegedly sleeping with two underaged girls in 1942, but was cleared of all charges with a little help from the creatively named American Boys’ Club for the Defense of Errol Flynn (ABCDEF).

He died in 1959, with one paper reporting that “Errol Flynn came to town in 1959 for a week-long binge that ended with him dying in a West End apartment, his local friends propped him up at the Hotel Georgia lounge so that everyone would see him”.

So hats off to a hard living Taswegian who evidently enjoyed a Jameson’s as much as we do.
