Dr. Seuss was born yesterday (2nd March, 1904), so in his honour, here are some interesting things that you may not have known about him.

1. He was in fact a dwarf, standing 4’3″ tall. He also had agoraphobia, because of this he rarely left his house.

2.  He also invented the character Wally (of Where’s Wally fame), supposedly inspired by the Cat in the Hat’s hat.

3.  He collaborated with D.H Lawrence on Lady Chatterley’s Lover, mistakenly believing that is was a comedy.

4.  In 1967, at the age of 63, he was arrested along with his long time friend Mick Jagger for possession of Amphetamines.

5.  He reportedly had a fling with Janis Joplin in the Chelsea Hotel some time in the 60’s.

6. He was once admitted to hospital for trying to eat green eggs as part of his research.
